Gibbons Rehabilitation Project

This photo shoot was for the association Gibbons Rehabilitation Project which operates in Phuket, Thailand.
The rehabilitation area is located at the entrance of the natural park of Bang Pae waterfall in the middle of the rain forest and away from human presence. Here are huge cages, about twenty.
The cages are raised from the ground and very high to allow Gibbons to live as high as in nature.
The Gibbons are treated carefully by experts GRP staff members in respect of their wild nature, then the contact with humans is kept to a minimum if not totally absent.
The realization of this service has been very difficult and challenging;
Can not use a flash that would disturb Gibbons,
often poor light to the shadow generated by the dense vegetation,
the position of the Gibbons almost always at the top and then against light,
the need to get closer with the camera a lot to the net cage and then exposure to the fast attacks of the same Gibbons who defend their territory.
All these problems have required hours and hours of waiting in pose, but at the same time I was able to closely observe these wonderful creatures and live indescribable emotions!
Many volunteers from all over the world come here to support their work with the project. Wonderful people!

Questo servizio fotografico è stato realizzato per l\'associazione Gibbons Rehabilitation Project che opera in Phuket, Thailand.
L\'area di riabilitazione è situata all\'ingresso del parco naturale delle cascate Bang Pae in mezzo alla foresta pluviale e lontano dalla presenza umana. Qui sono presenti grandissime gabbie, circa venti.
Le gabbie sono rialzate dalla terra e molto alte per permettere ai Gibboni di vivere in alto come in natura.
I Gibboni sono curati con attenzione dagli esperti membri dello Staff GRP nel rispetto della loro natura selvaggia, quindi il contatto con gli umani è ridotto al minimo se non totalmente assente.
La realizzazione di questo servizio è stata molto difficile e impegnativa;
Impossibile usare un flash che disturberebbe i Gibboni,
luce spesso scarsa per l\'ombra generata dalla fitta vegetazione,
la posizione dei Gibboni quasi sempre in alto e quindi in contro luce,
la necessità di avvicinarsi con la macchina fotografica moltissimo alle maglie della rete della gabbia e quindi di esporsi ai veloci attacchi degli stessi Gibboni che difendono il loro territorio.
Tutti questi problemi hanno richiesto ore e ore di attesa in posa, ma allo stesso tempo ho potuto osservare da vicino queste meravigliose creature e vivere emozioni indescrivibili!
Moltissimi i volontari che da ogni parte del mondo vengono qui per sostenere con il loro lavoro il progetto. Persone stupende!
