Orazio was born in Catania on 22/08/1984, where he lives and works. His passion for
photography began at age 13 thanks to a polaroid and the desire to document the real
through the images. Begins, therefore, to work at some studios in their city. In 2004
he began to collaborate with colleagues in the creation of several photographic
exhibitions as curator. In early 2006, after having gained a lot of experience in
advertising and fashion, he started working on his own with work on commission. He
understands, however, that his true ambition is to make the photojournalist. So he
began to make personal reportage on the territory, devoting himself to society, who is
a particular branch. In November 2008, he began working in the field of film as
"director of photography".
In September 2010, there is his first with the reportage "ROM, a gust of wind",
exhibited at the Courtyard Platamone in collaboration with the municipality of
Catania and the Department of Culture.
In October 2011, the film "The game is done?" Won the 1st prize for debut at the
"International Festival of Torre di Siena", a film in which served as director of
photography.
In October 2012 he won the 2nd prize in the "Med Photo Fest" with the reportage
photo finish.
Always in 2012 in the month of December, receives the award for best work reported
at the 4th International Competition on Human Rights "Human Rights".
May of 2013 exposes a photographic exhibition staff at the Courtyard Platamone with
the project "The hope should never be abandoned," which includes the creation of a
photographic catalog in collaboration with the municipality of Catania and the
Department of Culture.
In June 2013 1st place at the "Ragusa Photo Festival", the first international
exhibition of photography held in Sicily, in the baroque city of Italy. A prestigious
event that offers Sicilian and not, that deal with photography, an opportunity for
growth and meeting with authors, critics, photo editor and staff of international
renown, including: G. Chiaramonte, E. D'Itri, T. Pharaohs, R. Mutti, M. Garofalo, M.
Pinna.
He currently works as a freelance for several newspapers of the Sicilian territory.
