a parte i prezzi che se non sbaglio saranno esorbitanti di light... come diavolo si chiama, mi sembra sia solo x MAC

Altre soluzioni alternative, possibilmente che salvino le info delle modifiche al raw come rawshoot in un file separato?

As you may have noticed, Adobe Systems Inc. recently acquired the technology assets of Pixmantec. Pixmantec's technology and expertise will be incorporated into Adobe's products. Specifically, some of Pixmantec's raw processing technology will be incorporated into Adobe's raw processing engine which is shared by Adobe Camera Raw and Lightroom. We, the founders of Pixmantec, will join the Adobe team, integrating our expertise into their products, and continuing to be able to serve the photographic community.

As the founders of Pixmantec, we'd like to express how gratifying it has been to see the level of support and praise we have managed to gain through the introduction of the RawShooter product line to the market. We had a vision of making top-notch raw processing capabilities truly accessible to a wide audience of photographers, and the number of devoted users that developed tells us that we made significant progress towards that goal.

Nevertheless, we also saw that we were not the only company recognizing the need for specialized photography workflow software. Specifically, Adobe a company we have always admired had for some time been working on their own workflow solution, which was announced as the Lightroom public beta program in January of this year. When we met with the folks from Adobe, we found that the admiration was mutual, and that our visions for the customer were very well aligned. Ultimately, we saw the opportunity to make a bigger impact by joining Adobe, and lending our own best ideas and expertise to the ongoing Camera Raw and Lightroom efforts.

As we work to integrate Pixmantec technology and expertise into Adobe's raw processing pipeline, we will no longer be working on new versions of the RawShooter | premium product, and have stopped selling this product. Of course, your RawShooter | premium product will continue to work and serve you well, but we also know that many of you will eventually want a software solution that you know will continue to evolve, remaining up-to-date as raw workflows and processing continues to improve. Adobe Lightroom is a product targeted at solving these evolving workflows and up to the minute raw processing. Currently in public beta format for the Macintosh platform Adobe Lightroom will be released as public beta for Windows this summer.

Lightroom is being built from the ground up to address the unique challenges of a photography-centric workflow. Not only will it offer what we believe will be second-to-none raw processing, but it is designed to provide a start-to-finish workflow solution for photographers. Offer a free download version of Lightroom 1.0 for customers who bought RawShooter | premium prior to July 12th 2006, 12 noon European Standard Time. Given that Lightroom 1.0 will serve a much broader range of functionality and will be priced at a higher price point than RawShooter | premium, we believe this represents a great value for our customers.


Adobe will investigate to what extent your image corrections made within RawShooter can be transferred to Lightroom.


We will deliver support for Canon EOS 30D In RawShooter | essentials this summer.

Allora, Adobe ha comprato la Pixmantec, la ditta che fa Raw Shhoter.

Il team della (ex) pixmantec è stato messo sotto a lavorare per Adobe lightroom, che tra l'altro già questa estate sarà disponibile in beta versione per WINDOWS.

Quindi non c'è più il caro vecchio Raw shooter premium, ma vedremo probabilmente un gran bel adobe lightroom tra breve! I prezzi dovrebbero allinearsi ad Apple Aperture e combattere sul filo dei 300 Euro circa.

Nel complesso, lo dico da utente, tra Capture NX, Adobe lightroom e Aperture, c'è molto fermento nel prossimo futuro nel campo dei raw-converters e penso che per tutti noi sia un gran bene

si ma non dimentichiamo che di rawshooter c'era una versione free e quella full costava 100 euro circa

adobe si sta comprando tutto... compreso MACROMEDIA

Non vorrei sbagliarmi, ma chi possiede una licenza della versione professional ( a pagamento) potrà avere la versione 1.0 di Lightroom gratis come aggiornamento.
Se è così non mi sembra affatto male.

adesso ho capito

comunque a ragione al404 perchè se tutti questi colossi continuano a comperare le altre ditte che fanno software simili tutto finisce in mano a 3-4 ditte e poi addio a software gratuiti, poi visto che l'anti-trust in america non funziona tanto vedi microsoft

Bibble. La versione Lite costa una 60 ina di dollari, la pro mi pare 120, anche se secondo me le cose che hai in più non valgono la differenza. Comunque entrambi te li puoi scaricare come trial per dargli un'occhiata, il trial è completamente funzionale per 14 giorni. Le modifiche al raw vengono salvate in un file .bib separato dal raw stesso, che non viene toccato.

Vedi, io ti capisco, ma prova a pensare che se tu fossi il signor "pixmantec" che ha creato raw shooter e un giorno ti suona alla porta il signor "Adobe" e ti dice: "salve, ti compro la baracca per un milione di dollari!" Tu che gli dici... no? Adesso chi ha scritto raw shooter sta alle Fiji con buona pace di noialtri....

Da sempre nel software ci sono piccoli sviluppatori che fanno cose interessanti, poi arriva la grande ditta e ti compra coprendoti d'oro. Mai nessuno si è lamentato di questo (almeno non gli sviluppatori).

Se vuoi combattere questo modo di pensare e di agire sul mercato devi favorire ciò che è fuori dal mercato, cioè l'open-source, nel nostro caso The Gimp.

si be certo sono daccordo con te, sono le leggi antitrust che non dovrebbero permettere certe cose e dopo si lamenteno dei pirati, sono loro gli istigatori

Come darti torto? è impossibile perchè hai ragione in pieno, ma ultimamente sembra che si faccia molto prima a scaricare la versione illegale di qualsiasi software piuttosto che combattere per quello in cui si crede e poi, almeno in italia, le cure sono peggio del male.

Ma mi chiedo, e se i software free diventassero popolari? chi ci dice che non arriva l' Adobe di turno a comprare pure quello e renderlo a pagamento? un po' com'è successo con il divx?

Ah, beh, regalato eh

Beh, se è open source mi sembra difficile che possa diventare a pagamento, diverso è il caso di programmi che nella loro fase di sviluppo vengono distribuiti liberamente dai programmatori che però ne conservano i diritti, un esempio potrebbe essere PTLens, che già adesso è diventato a pagamento (ma in realtà si paga talmente poco che è ancora praticamente regalato ).

Comunque io lo sforzo di propagandare i programmi gratuiti l'ho sempre fatto segnalandone diversi su questo forum

Credo che rimpiangerò la situazione precedente.
Pixmantec era legata a Corel, e Rawshooter veniva allegato a Paint Shop Pro X.
Io lo usavo per sistemare i Raw non-Nikon che ogni tanto mi procuro per i miei test.
E lo preferivo a Camera Raw.
Per i Nikon, no-problem. Capture NX supera di anni-luce qualunque altro software di gestione Raw.

secondo me gia' capture 4 risulta spesso troppo invasivo...

abbiamo perso un'opzione tra cui scegliere, il che non e' mai un bene
